The VOICETRUST Banking Suite

Credit card companies can offer their customers the opportunity to set an individual transaction limit for voice authentication when using credit cards.

“Plastic money“ has a lot of advantages over cash: There is no need to plan in advance how much money one has to take along, and there is no risk of losing cash. If a credit card is lost or stolen, at least there is some hope that it will not fall into the hands of an impostor.

But what if it does? If the victim does not react quickly enough and reports the loss, he loses the money spent by the impostor in the meantime. Otherwise the credit card company has to foot the bill.

With an unstaffed service both simple and intelligent, a credit card company can make sure that only the owner of a credit card can use it for payment.

  • Every credit card user can set his/her individual transaction limit for advanced security measures.
  • In the case that this pre-defined transaction limit is reached the credit card server alerts the VOICETRUST server and asks for automatic verification.
  • The VOICETRUST server initiates a cell phone call to the customer who then authenticates himself by saying the sentence he/she has previously recorded.
  • Only when there is no doubt about the identity of the customer, the server reads out the intended credit card transaction and waits for the customer’s confirmation.
  • Then the server sends a payment approval notification to the credit card company.

Credit Card and Online Banking Customers
Bank customers wish for maximum flexibility and security. So far, these have been contradictory goals, especially in online banking or the use of credit cards.
Owners of PDAs and Cell Phones
Cell phones and PDAs have basically become mobile offices. Data stored on them has to be secured.
Callers
True enough, since the launch of ISDN and digital mobile networks it is possible to see the caller ID on your display. But this is not the caller’s identity!
